ENBRIDGE CANOE FOR KIDS
Enbridge Canoe for Kids is Christie Lake Kids (CLK) annual fundraiser.
The idea for the event came from a small group of CLK alumni in 1995, who
vowed to keep the annual event going. Over the past 10 years, the continued
success of the event has been made possible by the enormous support from the
community in the form of donations, in-kind gifts, a dedicated volunteer base
and most importantly, Enbridge Gas, who have been our title sponsor for the
past three years.
Each spring, teams of 6 paddlers collect pledges and race down the water
at Mooney’s Bay in canoes. Every dollar raised from the event goes
towards sending economically disadvantaged kids to camp. As incentive to
raise the money, we award great prizes to the 1 st, 2 nd & 3 rd highest
fundraising teams. And let’s not forget, the best costume, the most
creative team name and the fastest paddlers!
2005 was a successful year!
We are proud to announce that last year we raised $66,000 (net).
Congratulations to “Stroke & Win!” for raising the most
in team pledges (over $4K!). Of the 40 teams who participated last year,
the average fundraising amount was $1,331! Hats off to the highest
individual fundraiser who brought in $1,500 and let’s not leave
out the biggest winners of all, the 68 children & youth who got to
go to camp last summer!
The 11 th Annual Enbridge Canoe for Kids
With your support, this year will be our biggest and best event to
date. We have a top-notch group of volunteers in place from the corporate
and government sectors who will help us reach our recruitment goal of 50
teams and our fundraising goal of $72,000 (net). As usual, we can always
count on the continued support of our generous sponsors, our media partners,
our volunteers and our team participants!
LET THE RACES BEGIN!
